Fantastic.
A great step forward for Burton's RED helmet line.
The Helmet X is unlike any helmet on the market
right now. With its' futuristic design, the Helmet
X is loaded with all the features any rider might
need. The shell is loaded with passive venting options,
12 to be exact. All of the vents are double covered
with high strength mesh to prevent any unwanted
snow surprises. The colors are nice, but we feel
they might be a little cooler if they had a little
more gloss to the colors. The goggle strap is a
nice design. It seems solid, and very easy to use.
The inside of the Helmet X is loaded with padding
and comes with extra pads if you need to fill it
out a bit more. The sizing is unique on this helmet,
as you can actually adjust the size with the sliding
band on the inside. It's a little difficult to move,
but it's not moving when you get it set! The Helmet
X is modular as well with it's removable earflaps.
Kudos to Burton for the snaps on the earflaps instead
of the Velcro everyone else uses! The ear flaps
are very easy to use and they are solid enough that
they will not fall apart in your jacket pocket for
Spring Skiing! Toss in the neck-roll-guard and the
super plush chin strap cover and you have a winning
helmet combination! To top it all off, the Helmet
X comes with it's own helmet bag! The Helmet X gets
our highest rating! A+

Helmet
X is the pinnacle of design, function, and safety
for a new age in snowboard-specific helmets. Helmet
X's progressive shell design incorporates a wide
field of vision and extra protection for heelside
head slams. Venting ports allow air to naturally
purge from the helmet, keeping the rider's cranium
a constant temperature without adjustment. The
Cradle Crank lets riders perform instantaneous
micro-fit adjustments, so you can wear a Ninjaclava
on those bitter days or resize and remove the
earflaps for a summer session. Built to meet and
exceed the strict specifications of the proposed
ASTM safety standard for snowboard helmets.
